St. Albans Man Faces Child Neglect Charges

A St. Albans couple is in trouble after state police found their home filled with trash, bugs, animal waste, and drugs. Paul Naylor has been arrested and charged with child neglect, and the mother, Kimberly Anderson, is also facing charges. reports the children's teachers called CPS, and tried to help by sending home toothbrushes and shampoo. The break in the case came after the 9-year old girl called police and reported her father was threatening her with a knife.

Cedar Grove Home Invasion Could Be Linked To Another

A home invasion early Tuesday is under investigation. Cedar Grove police say a man broke into a home on Depot Hill and assaulted another man before leaving and possibly heading towards Beckley. This home invasion may be related to another incident that happened earlier in the night in Glasgow, and both are still under investigation.

I-64 Ramp to Close Tonight

Heads up for drivers...An exit ramp along I-64 Westbound in Kanawha County will be closed overnight Wednesday so crews can work on milling and paving. Department of Highway crews will shut down the Dunbar Westbound off ramp (Exit 53) at 9 p.m. Wednesday and it will stay closed until about 6 a.m. Thursday.

Boy on Bicycle Hit on Charleston's West Side

A boy was taken to the hospital Tuesday evening after being hit by a car on Charleston's West Side. Witnesses told police the boy had been riding on the sidewalk, but was crossing the intersection of Virginia Street West and Delaware Avenue when he was hit. His condition hasn't been released. There are reports the driver did not stop at first, but came back after realizing what had happened.

WV Pepperoni Rolls in National Competition

Oh those pepperoni rolls....if you like them you have the chance to help make them a winner in the National Restaurant Association's "A Taste of America" contest. So far in the competition West Virginia's pepperoni roll has beaten the Philly cheese steak and other regionally-acclaimed foods, and has advanced to the fourth round. West Virginia needs to beat Arizona, Maryland, Georgia, South Carolina, Iowa, and Oregon's famous foods it it's to be the champ. The contest ends June 7th, and you can vote at

Trial Date Set for Former Smithers Fire Chief

An August trial has been set for the former chief of the Smithers Volunteer Fire Department and his wife. Earlier this month a Fayette County grand jury indicted Timothy Whittington and Patricia Whittington on felony charges related to missing funds that the Whittingtons are accused of taking for personal use. Timothy Whittington is charged with embezzlement. Patricia Whittington is charged with fraudulent schemes. The Associated Press reports that the couple pleaded not guilty to the charges Friday in Fayette County Circuit Court. The trial date has been set for August 20. Timothy Whittington resigned from the Smithers VFD in February.

Fayette County Accident Investigated

The Fayette County Sheriff's office is still investigating after a pedestrian was hit by a car Sunday night. It happened in the Meadow Bridge area, and deputies say 20-year old Zack Allen Zink of Meadow Bridge was hit on Cowtown Road and taken to Raleigh General. The driver of the vehicle that hit Zink may have had some sort of altercation before the accident.

Tribute to Mingo Sheriff Crum Finally Able to Happen

A motorcycle ride originally planned for early May was finally able to happen over the holiday weekend. The “Poker Run” memorial ride in honor of Mingo Sheriff Eugene Crum was originally supposed to be part of the Rally in the Valley, but was delayed because of rain. The ride included about a hundred bikers, and began in Williamson and went past the spot where Crum was killed while eating lunch in his car in early April, then the bikers went out into Mingo County past his grave. Rosie Crum, Eugene’s widow was named acting sheriff after his murder, and attended the ride.

Suitcase Found with Materials to Make Meth

Charleston police are investigating after a suitcase was found outside an apartment building Sunday. Metro 911 dispatchers said materials were found inside consistent with making methamphetamine. The suitcase was found on a sidewalk outside of Terrace Park East apartment building, at 2106 Kanawha Blvd. That's about two blocks away from the state capitol.

Area Graduations Are Underway

This is a week of multiple graduations, with the first ceremony last night at the Charleston Civic Center Colesium. South Charleston High School seniors got their diplomas, and also last night Sissonville High School held their graduation at Municipal Auditorium. Herbert Hoover High graduates tonight at Municipal Auditorium, and Capital High graduates at the Civic Center Colesium. Wednesday it's Riverside High and George Washington High; Thursday Nitro and St. Albans will graduate. In Putnam County, Poca High graduates Saturday at Municipal auditorium. Buffalo, Hurricane, and Winfield graduate next week.
