SNAP Recipients May Have to Take a Test
Those who receive SNAP benefits may have to pass a test to keep receiving them, if a new bill passes. State lawmakers have been considering separate bills in the House and Senate that would limit help from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program. It’s an asset test that would take into account a household’s bank account, lottery and gambling income, cash, real estate, and personal property. The Gazette-Mail reports the bill was introduced by Kanawha County Sen. Ed Gaunch to cut down on abuse of the system.
