Laid Off Forest Workers
More than a dozen laid off forest workers in West Virginia are being re-hired. West Virginia Secretary of Commerce H. Wood Thrasher announced the recall of the 15 state foresters on Friday and said they are being put back to work immediately. They were let go last year and the move was met with sharp criticism. A combination of funds from the Office of Miners’ Health, Safety and Training as well as existing vacancies within the Division of Forestry will fund the positions through the end of fiscal year 2017.
