Black Lung Benefits

The Black Lung Benefits Improvement Act and the Robert C. Byrd Mine Safety Protection Act are both making their way through Congress. Senator Joe Manchin says the black lung legislation would make it possible for miners to have their cases reopened if they were previously denied benefits. The mine safety protection act is designed to improve safety standards to prevent disasters such as the Upper Big Branch explosion.
