Man Shot Second Man Sentenced
A second man has been sentenced in the death of a man shot after he broke into a Pennsylvania home a year ago. The (Uniontown) Herald-Standard reports that a Fayette County judge sentenced 25-year-old Vincent Jones of Charleston, West Virginia, to five to 10 years in prison. Jones pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter in the May 2016 death of 27-year-old Trenton Grooms in Searights, a tiny Menallen Township village. A conspiracy charge was dropped. Twenty-four-year-old Christian Carpenter of Highland Park, Michigan, pleaded no contest last month to simple assault in exchange for a four- to 23-month sentence that made him eligible for immediate parole. Authorities in Fayette County said Grooms had broken into the home of an ex-girlfriend and was shot during a confrontation with the two men.
