Tobacco Division
The state of West Virginia is laying off all but one employees in the Division of Tobacco Prevention. The new state budget eliminated all funding for the department, but the director is staying on thanks to leftover funds from last year’s budget and some federal grants. He told the Charleston Gazette he’s going to try to keep Quitline, a telephone hotline for smokers trying to quit, and RAZE, an anti-smoking program for teens, up and running.
