Pay Raises for
Pay raises are being given to some state workers. Low paying officers in the state’s correction system will receive a dollar-an-hour increase, the first raise of any significance in nearly a decade. The West Virginia Personnel Board agreed to the rate hike last week, while saying the money will come from unfilled positions and other already existing sources. The change takes place in September and boosts the average starting pay for uniformed corrections officers to 24-and-a-half-thousand-dollars.
