Fitzpatrick takes plea deal

Brandon Fitzpatrick has pleaded guilty in the fatal shooting of former coal company executive Ben Hatfield. Fitzpatrick pleaded guilty to felony murder in a last minute plea deal. The jury had just found him guilty and his defense team tried to declare a mistrial. Eventually both sides agreed to a plea deal of felony murder. Fitzpatrick’s sentencing is scheduled for January.
