Concerns Grow Over Norovirus
Early winter is a popular time for a stomach bug known as the Norovirus to spread. The Kanawha-Charleston Health Department is warning the public that the virus is highly contagious, and symptoms include the sudden onset of nausea, stomach pain and fevers. Most people recover from the illness in one to three days, according to the health department. The elderly, very young children, and those with underlying health conditions are at greater risk for hospitalization because of Norovirus. There are no specific treatments for the infection.
