Scam artist making phony calls

A scam artist, claiming to be with the Kanawha county Sheriff’s Department, is making phony calls to residents claiming they owe a thousand-dollars or more in fines for not appearing for jury duty. The scammer tells the victim to the go to the Federal Courthouse and make payments with pre-paid cards. The Kanawha County Sheriff’s office says don’t fall for it, they will never call demanding payment over the phone. The Sheriff’s Department is investigating.
