Retail Closings Impact West Virginia
Some big retailers have announced plans to shut down some stores, but not every location will close. Macy’s stores at the Huntington Mall in Barboursville and the Charleston Town Center will stay open, and that’s welcome news since Macy’s is an important anchor store at Charleston Town Center, which has been facing financial challenges. Macy’s is closing 100 stores across the country. Three West Virginia Kmart stores are closing too…The stores in Huntington, St. Albans, and Clarksburg will close in April. Parent company Sears says it is closing some unprofitable stores. The West Virginia stores are among more than 60 Kmart stores and nearly 40 Sears stores that will close in the next few months.
