Speed Limits May Increase to 80 mph on Highways
Drivers could be going faster if new legislation is approved. A bill before the state Senate would raise the speed limit on the interstate and four-lane highways to 80 mph. The bill would allow the state road commissioner increase the speed limit on roads out in the open, and not on those portions of interstate highways and four-lane limited access highways that pass through city limits. The 80 mph speed limit is in the hands of the state Senate for now.
