New police substation opens downtown

Charleston police are working out of a new substation on the city’s transit mall. The station on Laidley Street opened yesterday and will house the city’s new hybrid unit and K-9 division. Police Chief Steve Cooper says the move will put more cops on foot in the downtown area.
