Suspicious device shuts down Boone County road

Route 17 near Spars Creek in Boone County was shut down Monday morning after a suspicious device was found in an abandoned vehicle. The bomb squad was called in around 6 a.m., and the determined the device wasn’t a threat. The car was reported stolen in October in Wayne County. No one was injured, and the road was reopened an hour later.
