Charleston Papers Look for a Buyer

Charleston Newspapers President and Chief Financial Officer Trip Shumate said the company on Tuesday will file a voluntary Chapter 11 bankruptcy. WCHS TV reports more than 200 employees at the Charleston Gazette-Mail could be affected, but the new owner could hire those employees. Wheeling Newspapers is the highest and preferred bidder at this point. Charleston Mayor Danny Jones said he is hopeful whoever buys the paper will keep it in operation.
