Martinsburg City Councilman Faces Petit Larceny Charge
A city councilman in West Virginia is accused of helping his brother take and destroy a tenant’s belongings. The Journal says the victim in Martinsburg reported Monday his landlord, Christopher Baker, had loaded his belongings onto city trucks to take away. Christopher Baker told police the city planning commission had deemed the apartment uninhabitable because of a lack of electricity, so he disposed of the victim’s belongings. While he was talking to police, Martinsburg Councilman Jason Baker left the apartment with the victim’s tools.
He’s charged with petit larceny, destruction of property and conspiracy.
