Charitable Giving Drops
A philanthropic group says there has been a $10 million drop in charitable giving in West Virginia over the period of a year. The report released by the Philanthropy West Virginia reveals there was a 2.2 percent decline in charitable giving between 2012 and 2013 while the national average for the same time period increased by 5.4 percent. The Herald-Dispatch reports the decline was due to the state’s slower recovery from the 2008 recession.
