Upper Big Branch Mine memorial vandalism an “accident”

Pineville officials know who destroyed a monument at a memorial for the miners killed in the Upper Big Branch mine explosion at Palisades Park. Mayor Linda Phillips says an older autistic child picked up the memorial and slammed it to the ground. She’s labeling it an “accident.” The child’s family plans to pay for the memorial.
