Doctor is Indicted on Sexual Assault Charges

A Kanawha County grand jury indicted Charleston gastroenterologist Steven R. Matulis on Friday on multiple sexual assault and abuse charges. A news release from the Putnam County Prosecutor said past allegations against Matulis include sexually assaulting patients while they were under anesthesia. The doctor had been working at Charleston Gastroenterology Associates, which is inside CAMC, since 1994, but is no longer listed as an employee.
