Contest Encourages Kids to Stay Sober
The West Virginia Alcohol Beverage Control Administration is encouraging students to enter its “NO School Spirits” contest. The agency is looking for essays or videos that discuss the dangers of drinking and driving or underage drinking. All private and public high schools are invited to enter. They have until midnight, Dec. 18. The winning school will create a public service announcement that will be televised across West Virginia throughout next year’s prom and graduation season. The first place winner will also get $5,000. The second and third place winners will get $2,500 and $1,000, respectively. They money has to be used for a school-sanctioned event or to buy school equipment.
