WV needs to do more to prevent cancer deaths
West Virginia needs to do more to prevent cancer deaths. The American Cancer Society released a report that shows the state needs improvement in care through Medicaid, funding for cancer screening programs, smoke-free laws, cigarette tax levels, and funding for tobacco prevention and cessation programs. More than twelve-thousand West Virginias are expected to be diagnosed with cancer this year, and over 30-percent of those are attributed to smoking.
