New Program Could Help With Road Repairs
A new program could mean neighbors don’t have to wait on someone else to fix their roads. The “Neighbors Helping Neighbors” program would help with repairs on what are known as orphan roads, and residents are responsible for the repairs. The Kanwha County Commission President Kent Carper wants lawmakers to pass a law that will allow people along those roads to apply for grant money to help cover the cost of repairs. There are similar programs around the country that have been successful, and it would match funding.
