City Councilman Hits Pedestrian With His Vehicle
Police say a St. Albans city councilman struck a man with his vehicle.
The St. Albans Police Department said in a news release 80-year-old Desper Lemon struck 66-year-old Garrell Hubert Bentley as he was crossing the street to his parked car Tuesday evening. Lemon tells The Charleston Gazette-Mail he stayed at the scene after the incident. He says Bentley was not moving when emergency vehicles arrived. Bentley was taken to Thomas Memorial Hospital and was scheduled to be transferred to Charleston Area Medical Center’s General Division. Police say the incident is still under investigation. They also say Lemon is cooperating with authorities.
