Delegate Appointed to Fill Armstead’s Seat
Gov. Jim Justice has appointed a delegate to fill a seat vacated by former House Speaker Tim Armstead. Warren “Dean” Jeffries has been appointed to District 40. Jeffries is an insurance agent and lives in Elkview with family. Armstead resigned from his seat and position as House speaker Aug. 21 to run for a justice seat on the state Supreme Court. Justice appointed Armstead and Congressman Evan Jenkins to the West Virginia Supreme Court to fill vacancies created by the retirements of Justices Menis Ketchum and Robin Davis. Armstead and Jenkins will sit on the court until new justices are elected in the special election that will coincide with the general election on Nov. 6. Both Armstead and Jenkins have filed as candidates and will be on the ballot.
