New Class Begins State Police Training
Forty new cadets had their first day at the State Police department on Monday. The West Virginia State Police Academy in Dunbar held a swearing-in ceremony and Gov. Jim Justice was there to do the honors. This will be the second accelerated cadet class in the history of the West Virginia State Police. Captain David Lee said it’s important to add the 40 new cadets to the force since the number of troopers have been low recently. The training period for the cadets will last 10 weeks. This is the first cadet class for the State Police since 2014.
