Demolition Begins on Herbert Hoover High School
A high school damaged by floods in 2016 is in the process of being torn down. Demolition started yesterday on the old Herbert Hoover High School after it was destroyed in the 2016 flood. Hoover students shared the Elkview Middle School building for awhile that year and then portables went up in Elkview, and this past summer, Kanawha County Superintendent Ron Duerring announced the old Herbert Hoover location wouldn’t reopen. The tentative site for the new Herbert Hoover High School is in Elkview and they’re doing environmental studies now. Construction on the new school could start in 2021.
