Inmates Charged After Trying to Escape
After an escape attempt where they made a hole in the wall, jail officials with the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center said nine inmates have been charged with attempted escape and criminal mischief. The hole was found in the back wall of the inmates’ shower area on Monday and the jail was placed on lockdown. The new charges can carry a possible sentence of one to five years and/or a $10,000 fine on each count if they are found guilty.
