Wide-spanning Drug Ring Cracked by Authorities
U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of West Virginia Mike Stuart announced Monday that a major drug pipeline between Akron, Ohio, and Charleston, W.Va. has been eliminated. Stuart said federal, county and local law enforcement dismantled a drug trafficking operation that distributed large quantities of fentanyl, methamphetamine and heroin. The takedown is part of a long-term investigation into suspected drug distributor Eugene Wells. Six arrests have been made in Charleston and more arrests are expected in Akron. In late September, officers executed a search warrant on Miranda Brandon’s home on Charleston’s West Side, and that led to the arrest of Wells, Brandon and Sherry Gray and drugs were seized.
