Veteran Shares Birthday with Pearl Harbor Day
Shortly after the attack on Pearl Harbor, a man named James Kemp McLaughlin was deployed as a cadet in the Army Air Corps and went on to found the West Virginia Air National Guard. He just celebrated his 100th birthday, and was honored by Adjutant Gen. James Hoyer of the National Guard and several others. McLaughlin’s birthday, December 7th, happens to be the same day as the 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor. McLaughlin also served locally as the Kanawha County Commissioner in the 1960s.
