Farmer’s Markets Offer SNAP Benefits
SNAP benefits now apply at farmer’s markets. The SNAP Stretch Program was unveiled last week and allows those using SNAP benefits to shop at 19 farmer markets across the state. The program will match the amount spent with coupons to be used later. The goal is to encourage SNAP recipients to shop for healthy, fresh food, and help the local economy of farmers at the same time. One out of five West Virginia families is enrolled in the program.
