Lawmakers Look Into Pain Clinics
State lawmakers are seeking to crack down on rouge pain-pill clinics by adding reporting requirements and closing loopholes the clinics use to skirt state laws. For the first time, the pain management clinics would have to record and report all cash transactions to state inspectors. Some states prohibit pain clinics from accepting cash from patients, but West Virginia has many clinics that take cash only. On Thursday, members of the House Health and Human Resources Committee advanced a bill that authorizes a host of pain clinic rules changes.
