Blankenship Wants Out of a Prison Sentence Pending an Appeal
Attorneys for former Massey Energy CEO Don Blankenship filed a motion this week asking that he be released from his one-year prison sentence pending an appeal. The basis for appeal includes whether or not the district court violated the Fifth and Sixth Amendments, the denial of certain cross-examinations, and reasonable doubt. Blankenship’s attorneys also say he’s not a flight risk. So far the date for Blankenship to self report to prison has not been set.
