WV researcher helping teens
A West Virginia researcher is getting national recognition for her efforts into teens and workplace injuries. WVU Assistant Professor Dr. Kimberly Rauscher discussed adolescent workplace injury on the show “Public Health Minute with William Latimer,” airing this month on NPR stations. She pointed out that young workers are inexperienced and often unaware of the hazards in their workplaces, so proper training and supervision are critical. Statistics show 40 teens die yearly from work-related injuries and tens of thousands suffer non-deadly injuries.
