D-SNAP Benefits Help Thousands
The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources says more than $4.6 million in disaster benefits have been passed out after the floods through the SNAP program. The 12 declared disaster counties got SNAP relief, including Kanawha, Nicholas, Roane, Jackson, Clay, Lincoln, Fayette, Greenbrier, Monroe, Nicholas, Summers and Webster counties. The department said the D-SNAP benefits were distributed to more than 4,700 individuals who were not current SNAP recipients, totaling more than $800,000.
