Wells Can’t Run for Clerk in November
The high court has ruled on a ballot issue that will impact the Kanawha County election this fall. Former state senator, Erik Wells, won’t be on the ballot for Kanawha County Clerk, because the state Supreme Court said he did not meet the qualifications by law to run in the general election. Wells petitioned to run as an Independent in the clerk’s race because he was serving overseas with the navy and didn’t run in the May primary. He intended to run against current Kanawha County Clerk Vera McCormick.
