Man Faces Felony Fleeing Charge
A man is facing charges after getting caught by a deputy on patrol on Wednesday night. The deputy saw a gold SUV with no license plate and tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver fled through a parking lot, crossed several lanes of traffic at MacCorkle Avenue, and fled toward Putnam County on Winfield Road. Sgt B-D Humphreys says the deputy saw him almost hit several pedestrians, and the chase went down several gravel roads, and even onto private property before 45-year old George Thayer hit a dead-end and was arrested. Thayer was charged with two counts of felony fleeing, and deputies found there was an existing warrant for fleeing from March of this year.
