Heightened Awareness is the Goal During School Bus Safety Week
School bus safety is getting the focus this week across the country, and several school districts across West Virginia are hoping to draw awareness to the importance. Kanawha County has had big issues with drivers illegally passing school buses, and police have been cracking down in school zones. Never pass a school bus when the lights are flashing and the stop arm is out. For the elementary schools, drop off is around 7:30am to 7:45 a.m. Buses may be picking students up as early as 6:15am, especially in rural areas. School Bus Safety Week is the third week in October each year.
