Suit Filed By Mingo Sheriff’s Widow is Dismissed
A Mingo County judge dismissed a lawsuit filed by the widow of Sheriff Eugene Crum, and the state Supreme Court agrees. The high court upheld the decision about the suit filed in 2015 by the late sheriff’s wife Rosie Crum, over burial expenses. Rosie Crum sued Chafin Funeral Home, Mingo County Commissioners John Mark Hubbard and Greg “Hootie” Smith, former commissioner David Baisden, former circuit judge Michael Thornsbury and Cabell County Sheriff Thomas McComas, because she claims they promised they would take care of all of his funeral and burial costs. WCHS TV reports the decision issued by state Supreme Court justices Friday, said no contract existed between Rosie Crum and the defendants in the lawsuit.
