Rally for Syrian Refugees Planned for Tuesday in Charleston
Some folks in Charleston will weigh in on issues affecting Syrian refugees. Volunteers are planning a rally for Tuesday at 5 p.m. in the mini-pavillion at Court Street and Kanawha Boulevard East. Episcopal Migration Ministries wants to help make Charleston a safe place for refugees, and officially applied with the U.S. Department of State to turn Charleston into one of its “resettlement communities,” and the Gazette-Mail reports they would place 100 refugees in the first year in Charleston. The State Department has not yet made a decision.
