Travel is Up on the Turnpike over Thanksgiving
Travel on the West Virginia Turnpike over the Thanksgiving weekend was the heaviest it’s been in serveral years. The Parkways General Manager, Greg Barr, told the Gazette-Mail that it was the most traveled Thanksgiving weekend in at least a decade on the Turnpike. Between Wednesday and Sunday, the 88-mile Turnpike handled more than 783,000 toll transactions, an increase of 3 percent from Thanksgiving 2015, and up 8 percent over Thanksgiving 2014. Sunday was the busiest day of the weekend, and the busiest single day in the history of the Turnpike.
