Deal for Spill
A tentative deal is being worked out between West Virginia American Water and state regulators over the Elk River chemical spill. The company was being investigated for its reaction to the 2014 spill and a tentative agreement was announced this week as the case was heading to court. WVAW will be required to increase its stream monitoring, set up contingency plans, report health risks to the public and have reserve water on hand. The potential deal still needs formal approval.
