Alpha Issues Layoff Notices

Another round of potential layoffs is coming for workers at Alpha Natural Resources mines. On Friday, Feb. 5 WARN notices were issued to employees at four mines and one processing plant run by Brooks Run mining. There are also several employees from Maxxim Shared Services affected. The reason for the idling is an oversupply of coal. In the case of these mines, Alpha Natural Resources officials said there was also a lack of coal orders.
