Another Scam Hits the Area

Deputy Sheriffs with the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office are getting reports of a scam where someone calls claiming to be with the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office or another law enforcement agency, and demanding money. They accuse the victims of not showing up for jury duty, court appearances, or some other violation. They offer the victim a chance to pay these fake fines over the phone by purchasing gift or money cards, or wiring money. If you think you’ve been a victim, call law enforcement to report it.
