Atlas building will get a facelift

The landmark Atlas building in downtown Charleston will undergo an eight-million-dollar renovation and facelift. It’s part of a project with the Charleston Urban Renewal Authority. Kanawha County Commissioners voted to work with a pilot program that will freeze taxes for the project at current rates. The renovation will include nearly fifty new commercial and retail rental units on the buildings first floor.
