Bill Clears The Way for Uber
West Virginia is close to letting Uber offer rides in the state. The Uber bill previously cleared the House and passed the Senate unanimously Tuesday. It still needs at least one more House vote before heading to Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin. The proposal would apply to Uber, Lyft and similar companies and would require them to have a nondiscrimination policy and comply with nondiscrimination laws, plus require a Division of Motor Vehicles permit, car insurance, underinsured and uninsured motorist coverage, a zero tolerance drug and alcohol policy, and driver background checks.
