Burglar takes off after homeowner fires a shot

A man is in custody after breaking into a North Charleston home. Eli Freeland is charged with burglary after breaking into a home on Ivy Drive early Sunday morning. The homeowner found Freeland in the living room and fired a shot that hit the floor. The suspect ran from the home and was caught and taken into custody. No charges against the homeowner, who police say acted in self-defense.
