Call 811 Before You Dig

The Public Service Commission of West Virginia is raising awareness today about underground utility lines, along with many other agencies across the country. The PSC reminds us to call 811 we dig today – on the national awareness day, August 11 (8/11) – and every other day. If your home improvement or DIY project requires you to dig, it also requires a call to West Virginia 811 before you begin. This is especially important after events like the recent floods because buildings have shifted, landmarks have changed and debris and mud cover much of the ground in areas, and the PSC says that makes it hard to determine the actual location of services. Calling 811 is always a free service.
