Charleston Firefighters Finish Training

The Charleston Fire Department welcomed one of its largest classes of recruits Thursday. Fourteen firefighters attended a ceremony at City Hall after completing the training academy. eeven with the new recruits, a lot of vacancies remain. One of the biggest problems is a shortage of paramedics statewide. The city of Charleston is budgeted for 60, but there is only about 40 on staff.
