Clean power plan
A U.S. Senate panel has visited southern West Virginia to hear testimony about the Clean Power Plan’s impact on the hard-hit, coal-producing region. Laid-off coal miner Jimmy Dale “Bo” Copley II and others described opposition to federal regulations that limit carbon pollution from coal-fired power plants to stem climate change. James Van Nostrand of the WVU College of Law Center for Energy and Sustainable Development said natural gas overwhelmingly drives coal’s downturn.
