Commission Asks for Progress on Elkview Mall

The Kanawha County Commission has filed a motion with federal bankruptcy court, requesting a hearing and update on the construction of the bridge at the Crossings Mall in Elkview. A news release from commissioners said the motion asks the court for clear progress of the bridge construction and the restoration of the shopping center. The shopping center has been closed since last June’s floods and more than 500 people lost jobs. Tara Retail filed for bankruptcy on the shopping complex property and the propery has been declared a public nuisance. The plan is to reopen it at some point.
